Hoaglund Breaks 2 More Records!Evan Hoaglund finished off his senior season breaking 2 more pool records. He broke 100 fly pool record with a time of 50.92 and the 100 free record with a time of 46.55. Both of these records previously belonged to Jack Blyzinskyj who went on to swim for the Florida Gators.

Weston Boys Set New 400 Free Relay Pool RecordWith their time of 3:11.90, the team of Evan Hoaglund (47.13), Max Nelson (48.20), Andrew Chiocca (48.89) and Theo Bodet (47.68) set a new pool record. They bested the previous record of 3:13.63 was held by the impressive quartet of Jack Blyzinskyj (46.92), Tommy Peacher (47.33), Ryan Burrow (48.49), and Sam Cekala (50.89).

Paul Shen Does What Nobody Has Done BeforePaul Shen became the first member of the Tide to break a minute in all 4 strokes. His times are 49.73 in free, 56.85 in fly, 59.29 in back and 58.58 in breaststroke. Congratulations to Paul for solidifying himself as one of the most complete all around Weston Swimmers!

Boys Continue the Perfect Season with a North Sectional Win!The Weston boys team finished 1st against a loaded field of teams at the North Sectional Meet. The boys battled back after the St. John's Prep Team took a 40 point lead after diving to win their 17th North Sectional Championship, and the first one since 2005.

Hall of Fame Coach Claude Valle RecognizedBefore the Hopkinton meet, the new lane 1 starting block was donated in dedication to Claude Valle for his immense impact on generations of swimmers who have gone through the program. Lane 1 has special significance to him as it is an indicator of the depth of the program he helped build and the many meets that were won due to the gritty performances of the lane 1 swimmers.

Linnard, Nelson, Hoaglund, Bodet Break 200 Free Relay RecordIn their meet against Hopkinton, the team of Nyle Linnard (22.19), Max Nelson (21.58), Evan Hoaglund (21.74), and Theo Bodet (21.82) broke the pool 200 free relay record from 2013. Their time of 1:27.33 broke the previous record of 1:28.04, which was held by legendary Tidesmen Jack Blyzinskyj, Tommy Peacher, Ryan Burrow, and Sam Cekala. Watch the video here!

Bodet, Shen, Nelson, Linnard Break Medley Relay RecordIn their meet against Hopkinton, the team of Theo Bodet (25.02), Paul Shen (26.76), Max Nelson (22.81) and Nyle Linnard (21.76) broke a 14 year old medley relay record with their time of 1:36.35. The previous record of 1:37.09 was held by Tide superstars Stuart Butts, Mike Grant, Chris Rossborough and Graham Frankel. The video of this performance can be found here.

Tide Great Julimar Avila Heads to the Olympic GamesJulimar Avila will be heading to Tokyo to represent Honduras. She will be swimming the 200 fly on July 27. This article in the Boston Herald describes her journey. Julimar (WHS Class of 2015) was an amazing student athlete that went on to have a great swimming career at BU. Best of luck to Julimar!

Three Tide Athletes Named to the Massachusetts All Decade Boys Swimming and Diving TeamThe Boston Herald Released its All Decade Boys Team. Congratulations to Jack Blyzinskyj, Tommy Peacher and Dale Nickerson for being recognized! Blyzinskyj and Peacher along with teammate Ryan Burrow lead one of the most dominant teams of the decade.

Senior Jacey Hinton Breaks Records at DCL MeetTide Senior Jacey Hinton was dominant in her two swims at the virtual DCL meet. Her time in the 100 free of 50.99 set a new pool record. Her leadoff swim in the 200 free relay clocked in at 23.28, which not only set a new varsity and pool record, but also was the second fastest time by a HS swimmer in the history of the state. Both swims topped records held by Tide superstar Eliza Butts.

Girls Break 200 Medley Relay Pool RecordThe relay team of Jacey Hinton, Kate Handley, Caitlin Lacey and Maddie Schiller broke the 200 medley pool record during a time trial. Their time of 1:48.02 broke the previous record held by Caroline Bryson, Julimar Avila, Christina Chiocca and Katrina Angelucci. It was also the fastest medley relay time in the state by almost two seconds.

Junior Charlotte Martinkus Sets New 11 Dive RecordCharlotte Martinkus set a new varsity 11 dive record. Her score of 618.3 shattered the previous record held by legendary diver and former Tide coach Mikaela Thompson. Charlotte is likely the only female diver in massachusetts history to break the 600 mark.

Freshman Evan Hoaglund Breaks Two More RecordsFreshman Evan Hoaglund continued to rewrite the freshman record board with terrific swims in the 200 IM and the 100 free. His time of 1:59.83 in the IM was a new freshman record, topping the previous time set by Ryan Burrow. In addition, his time of 48.42 broke the freshman mark held by Graham Frankel. Evan now holds 4 different freshman records.

Weston Swimming Sweeps TIDE Covid InvitationalBoth the boys and girls teams finished in first place in the Tide Covid Invitational, a meet that featured some of the best teams in the state. Teams included Duxbury, Nantucket, Mystic Valley, Needham, Wellesley, and Dana Hall.
Top Scorers were recognized from each grade. Congratulations to Jacey Hinton, Julia Lawlor, Kate Handley, Caitlin Lacey, Theo Bodet and Evan Hoaglund for winning this honor! |

Freshman Evan Hoaglund Breaks Two Team Records at Relay CarnivalDuring the mock relay carnival, Freshman Evan Hoaglund broke two freshman records in his first two swims as a member of the TIDE. His time of 55.29 in 100 fly broke the previous freshman record of 55.56 held by legendary tidesman Ryan Burrow, class of 2013. Evan's second swim in the 100 backstroke was clocked at 55.14.
