2008 - 2009

FEBRUARY 2009

At the 2009 Division II State Championships,
the 200 Freestyle Relay team of, L to R,
Matt Sanda, Niko Svensson, CJ Valle, and Jake Lichter
took the State Title in 1:29.41.
Adding to the accomplishment, not one member of the relay
had scored an individual point at the State Meet a year earlier.

"Everybody doing what they should."
Eve Jakubowski celebrates the
culmination of three years of hard work,
breaking 1:10 in the breaststroke.
Captains Skenderian and Friel
share the moment, while Cheryl Lang
(in red) stays focused for the
400 Freestyle Relay.

Looking for a break from the 500 Freestyle,
Jake Lichter tried the 100 Breaststroke at Sectionals.
Seeded seventh, Jake dropped 5 seconds
to go 1:00.90 and take the Sectional Title.
He was the third different Weston boy
to win the Sectional Title in the 100 Breaststroke
in three years, following Mason White ('07)
and Michael Grant ('08).

On Senior Day against Hopkinton,
Shelby Friel became the first GLOW
to break the minute-barrier in the 100 fly.
She set, or was part of, four Pool Records
on the afternoon; the 100 Butterfly
and all three relays.

Also on Senior Day against Hopkinton,
divers Nick Burkus (left) and Taylor Cirtchlow (right)
put up Weston's two highest 6-dive totals of all time.
Nick set a Pool and School Record of 330.55
while Taylor set a Freshman Record of 323.45.
Diving Coach Lori Waresmith is shown with the duo.

In January, 2009, the Weston Pool was closed
for approximately one month.  During that time,
The Tide, thanks to the generosity of Wayland,
practiced at the old Wayland Pool.
