 8/1/19: NISCA announces national ranks-
both Weston girls and boys teams
make Top 5 in U.S. for small schools

In NISCA's Dual Meet Team Rankings, The GLOWS
ranked in the Top 10 in the country, for schools
with enrollments under 900, for the 20th straight year.
Weston's boys were in the Top 4 for a 20th
season in a row.  The program has been coordinated
​for NISCA by Coach Valle for the past 5 years.

6/15/19: Weston lands
three divers on NISCA's
​All-America Team

NISCA announced the 2019
All-America Diving Team this month;
Dale Nickerson was named to the team
for the second consecutive year.
Emilia Schwallie and Charlotte Martinkus
both made the girls' squad -
​the first GLOWS divers to earn the honor.

5/15/19: NISCA names 
four Academic All-Americans
​from Weston High School

 The National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association released their
2019 list of Academic All-Americans.  In order to be recognized,
athletes must maintain at least a 3.75 GPA and score at the State Meet.
Above, L to R, are Weston's Gillian Reeder, Katherine Nardone,
Emilia Schwallie, and Jackson Rogers, who were each cited.

4/15/19: Milligan
and Nickerson
named All-Scholastic

In their annual
Winter All-Scholastic
announcement, The Globe
named Katheryn Milligan
and Dale Nickerson
to their respective teams.
Milligan was tabbed as
a freestyler while
Nickerson was named
as a diver and as
the Division 2
​Athlete of the Year.

2/17/19: Weston
Boys take third
​at MIAA D2 States

With three strong relays
and great individual work
from Dale Nickerson,
Ben Guzovsky, and
Theo Bodet, The Tide
​took third at States.
​It was Weston's 33rd
​straight year in the top 5.

2/17/19: Freshman trio
​excels at State Meet

With great performances at
the State Meet, freshmen
Theo Bodet, Andrew Chiocca,
and Nyle Linnard excelled.
Both Bodet (2:00.42 in the IM)
​and Chiocca (55.70 in Fly)
narrowly missed Ryan Burrow's
(Class of 2013) freshman records.
Linnard (22.61 leadoff on 200
Free Relay) lowered his own
rookie mark in the 50 Free.

​2/16/19: GLOWS
take 3rd at States

With strong relay swims, and individual scoring from
Katheryn Milligan and 
divers Charlotte Martinkus,
Emilia Schwallie, and
Katherine Nardone, The
GLOWS took third at the
State Championships.  It
was the 22nd straight year
​Weston was in the top 5.

​2/16/19: Martinkus takes second
at State Meet as a freshman

​Rookie Charlotte Martinkus flipped and twisted
her way to a second-place finish at the D2 State Meet
with a total of 452.40 points.  The newcomer nearly
​overcame a 22-point deficit with one dive to go
but was just 2.75 point shy of the victory.
The diving was Weston's best event at the meet
as Martinkus led a 2-3-5 finish for The GLOWS 
in the event.  She was chased by teammates
Emilia Schwallie and Katherine Nardone.

​2/16/19: Milligan sets Weston mark
for points in a season by a junior

With 48 points at the State Championships,
junior Katheryn Milligan set a new Weston HS record
for points in a season by a junior with 447.
The total broke the previous mark of 445.5 set by
Courtney Davies in the 1999-2000 season.


2/3/19: Linnard breaks
Rookie Record in 50 Freestyle

Freshman Nyle Linnard, swimming at the
Dual County League Championship meet
at WPI, set a new mark for newcomers
in the 50-yard Freestyle of 22.72.
Placing third overall in the event, the time
eclipsed the previous record of 22.84
​set by Tommy Peacher in 2010.

2/3/19: Milligan takes two events
​at Dual County League Championships

Junior Katheryn Milligan not only won her first
individual DCL title on Sunday, February 3,
she took home gold twice.  Competing at
​Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Katheryn won both
​the 200- and 100-yard Freestyle races.
​She was the meet's only double-winner.

1/25/19: Team
thanks 25 seniors

On Friday, January 25,
in a pre-meet ceremony,
the Weston HS swim/dive
team said farewell to
25 seniors as part of 
their Senior Day.
The meet against
Hopkinton was
Weston's last Home Meet
​of the 2018-2019 season.

1/25/19: Nickerson and Martinkus
​set more diving records

In a January 25 dual meet against Hopkinton -
the team's last dual meet of the season -
Dale Nickerson and Charlotte Martinkus
each set new records in the one-meter diving.
Nickerson set a new pool record for the
11 dive format with a total of 612.00 points,
while Martinkus' score of 316.00 for six dives
​established a new girls freshman mark.

1/22/19: Milligan and Guzovsky score 1,000 career points

On Tuesday, January 22, in a dual meet against Westford Academy,
juniors Katheryn Milligan and Ben Guzovsky each scored
their 1,000th career point.  Katheryn is just the 19th girl, and Ben is the 26th boy,
in the team's 47-year history to accomplish the feat.

1/22/19: Bodet set rookie mark
​in 100-yard Backstroke

In a dual meet against Westford Academy
on January 22, freshman Theo Bodet
set a new freshman record of 55.86
in the 100-yard Backstroke.  The time
eclipsed the previous mark of 56.82
​set by Jack Blyzinskyj in 2010.

1/21/19: Nickerson and Martinkus
​each establish new standards

On Monday, January 21, in a Diving Invitational Meet
held at Concord's Beede and Fitness Center,
senior Dale Nickerson and freshman Charlotte Martinkus
each set new Weston records for the 11-dive format.
Dale set a new boys' varsity mark of 640.90 points
while Charlotte's total of 523.15 was a new 
​girls' record for newcomers.

1/12/19: GLOWS take 6th
​at Bay View Invitational

On Saturday, January 12, The GLOWS
traveled to Brown University,
to take part in the Bay View Invite.
Led by junior Katheryn Milligan
(first in 200 free, second in 100 free)
Weston swam to a sixth-place
finish in a field of 30+ teams
from Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
Other scorers for the squad included
Niamh Lacey, Siobhan Lacey, 
Remy Larocque, Julia Lawlor,
Zara Nip, Gillian Reeder,
Leonie Schowtka, Connie Tian
and Grazi Vezza.

12/27/18: Martinkus ​breaks
11-dive Rookie Record

In a Tri-Meet with Mystic Valley and Norwood
on December 27, newcomer Charlotte Martinkus
established a new mark for freshman divers
in the 11-dive format.  Her total of 502.60 points
broke the previous mark of 371.05 set by teammate
​Emilia Schwallie at the 2016 D2 State Championships.

12/14/18: Freshman Boys
​set new mark
​for Medley Relay

In a dual meet versus Bedford on Friday,
December 14, newcomers Theo Bodet,
Aleksi Reczek, Andrew Chiocca,
and Nyle Linnard set a new rookie mark
of 1:46.06 for the 200-yd. Medley Relay.
The time eclipsed the previous record
of 1:49.49 set by Jack Blyzinskyj,
Ryan Burrow, Geoffrey Pendergast,
and Tommy Peacher in 2010.

12/7/18: Schwallie and Martinkus
​now two of top three divers for Weston

In the season's second dual meet versus Dana Hall
senior Emilia Schwallie (left in photo) and
freshman Charlotte Martinkus (right in photo)
combined to score two of Weston's top three
all-time diving totals.  Schwallie totalled a lifetime best
of 281.50 points, good for number three on the list,
while Martinkus scored 287.40 points for second.
Only current Harvard senior - and two-time
Ivy Champion - Mikaela Thompson has scored higher
​with a 359.50-point total in 2015.

12/6/18: Martinkus breaks oldest record
on the Weston board

In her first meet with the Weston High Team,
rookie Charlotte Martinkus established a new record
for Weston freshmen for 6 dives against Waltham.
Her total of 253.50 points broke the previous mark
of 247.15 set in 1992 by Kelly Ferro.
The 26-year old mark was the oldest on the
Weston books and the last record from the '90s.
