Weston Girls' and Boys' Teams each Top Three in US,
combine for top small school program in nation

6/13/16: Tide Assistant Bob Burrow
​conquers the Strait of Gibraltar

On June 13, Weston Assistant Coach Bob Burrow swam the Strait of Gibraltar
with a friend, Grant.  The pair completed the approximate 10.7-mile swim
​in 4 hours and 21 minutes.  Congratulations, Bob!

5/15/16: Barenholtz, Critchlow, and Milligan
recognized as NISCA Academic All Americas

Danielle Barenholtz (headed to Syracuse), Austin Critchlow (on his way to Stanford),
and Eric Milligan (Harvard-bound) were all named by NISCA as Academic All Americas.
​To receive this honor, candidates must maintain a 3.75 CUM on a 4.0 scale,
and ​score points at the State Championships.

4/13/16: Blyzinskyj swims 55.62 in 100m Back
to take 8th at UK Championships/Olympic Trials


WHS Alum Jack Blyzinskyj ('13) 
participated in the
UK Championships/Olympic Trials
in mid-April.  You can see
Jack swim the 100m Backstroke

4/4/16: Blyzinskyj wins "The Florida Way Award"

Former WHS Standout Jack Blyzinskyj ('13)
was recently honored with
"The Florida Way Award" in an event
on the University of Florida campus.
Held at the school's Phillips Center,
the award is given annually to an athlete
who demonstrates honesty, integrity,
​work ethic, and compassion.

4/2/16: Stephanie Palocz (WHS '12)
wins Stanford's Sterling Award

On April 2, Stephanie Palocz (WHS '12) was recognized
with a J.E. Wallace Sterling Award.  Given annually to the Top 25
graduating seniors in the School of Humanities and Sciences,
the honor recognizes effort and academic achievement
throughout their undergraduate education.
As part of the award, each recipient invites
a secondary school teacher whom the awardee names
as their most influential instructor.

3/26/16: Jack Blyzinskyj
(WHS '13) a big part
of Florida's third-place
finish at Men's Div. 1
​NCAA Championship

54 records were set at
the fastest meet in history,
the 2016 Men's NCAA Division 1
Championship at Georgia Tech.  Jack Blyzinskyj (WHS '13)
was a major factor in
Florida's 3rd place team finish.
In all, Jack scored in four events:
3rd place 200-yard Free Relay
(19.33 anchor split),
5th place 400-yard Medley Relay (45.76 lead-off, backstroke),
12th place 100-yard Back (45.82),
4th place 200-yard Medley Relay (21.20 lead-off, backstroke).

3/9/16: In celebration of winning the 2016 State Title,
the Tide Boys were invited to The State House
as guests of Rep. Alice Peisch

The group was given a tour of The State House, was recognized on the floor,
and was awarded certificates citing their accomplishment.

FEBRUARY 2016


2/21/16: Weston Girls are #2 at State Meet,
also receive MIAA Sportsmanship Award

On Sunday, 2/21/16, the Weston Girls took 2nd place
at the Mass. Division 2 State Championship Meet.
Just before the meet, the MIAA recognized Weston
as the 2016 Division 2 Sportsmanship Award winner.


2/20/16: Weston Boys take 5th straight State Title
and 24th State Championship in the last 34 years

On Saturday, February 20, 2016, at the Boston University Pool,
the Weston Boys took the 2016 State Team Championship
despite not winning a single event.  The team did not take the lead
​in the meet until the next-to-last event.
Prior to the meet, the team was also honored with
​the MIAA 2016 Sportsmanship Award for Division 2.

the Medley Relay quartet of
Caroline Bryson,
Anna Tseng,
Cristina Chiocca, and
Katrina Angelucci,
took the DCL title
in 1:51.55.

On Thursday, 2/4/16,
rookie Dale Nickerson
took the DCL Title

1/24/16: Weston Girls take 30th Annual Bay View Invitational

On Sunday, January 24, the Weston Girls Team
took their third-ever Bay View Invitational Title.
Their first such honor since 2003,
Weston out-scored their nearest competitor
by more than 100 points,
despite not winning a single individual event.
The GLOWS did, however, win all three relays.

1/9/16: Weston Boys take Read/Watmough Title
On Saturday, January 9, the Weston Boys Team
took their seventh consecutive team title
at Rhode Island's Read Watmough Invitational.
Held at Roger Williams University, it was the team's
12th victory in the last 13 seasons.

12/23/15: Caroline Bryson
scores 1,000th career point

With a win in the 200 IM against Wayland,
Caroline Bryson became the 16th GLOW
to score 1,000 career points.
Caroline and sister Victoria

are the first sisters to reach this milestone.

scores 1,000th career point

With a victory in the 200-yard Free
against Waltham,
Weston Senior Austin Critchlow
became just the 24th swimmer
in team history to
​crack the 1,000-point barrier.

11/6/15: Congratulations to Weston HS Grad ('13) Jack Blyzinskyj.
The Florida Junior posted a time of 46.21 in the 100-yd back
in a dual meet against South Carolina, today.  This time tied Jack
for the NUMBER ONE slot in the country in the event.
